So Thankful

After coming to LA, I feel like I need to be thankful for every single day. Every day I either make a new friend, learn something new, or have an unexpected event happen that would make my day. God's been truly working in my life this year, and I can't wait to see what other stuff He has in store for me. Most importantly, I would like to thank my family, friends, and of course, YOU, for looking at my blog. I greatly appreciate your time into looking at my stuff. I really hope all of you have something you can be thankful for, and have a wonderful holiday.

It's a quiet day for the all animation people. Why? Well, we're all getting ready for the big weekend.

C - T - N!

I'll be going all 3 days, so I hope to see most of you there :)

Best of luck for those who are getting their portfolios reviewed!

Let the madness finally begin!!!

Happy Veterans Day!

I can't stop thinking about V's story lately. I miss thinking about how her personality should be like or what kind of a story that she would be in. She was a part of my character animation project last year at RISD, and I couldn't bear to toss her aside. I've gotten too attached to her. So I adopted her as one of my most dearest characters.

Anyways, her story consists of her older brother being in the army, and her waiting for his return. And since it's veteran's day, I thought I would contribute a drawing in honor of the soldiers that sacrificed their lives to this country, and also to their families.

I guess this my first reveal of V's older brother. Still thinking of a name for him.

Oh, LA People are so amusing

Haha, I swear LA is just full of surprises. The people here are so creative and weird. (in a good way).

When I was cafe sketching, a Scottish guy came up to me and my friend, and complimented our drawings. Then he went on talking about his vision for a peaceful world, and kept calling me "goddess, princess, angel, etc".  Due to my short attention span, I couldn't really retain our conversation, but I distinctly remember him talking about how he wrote a song about all the gods of the universe...or something like that. haha All I wanted to do was just draw the guy. My friend did most of the talking. lol

He went away for awhile and came back with a flower necklace for me.... and went on calling me "goddess, princess, angel, etc" again. He called the flowers sacred, but I call them roses. Haha what a funny guy, but I can tell he put so much effort on to it. How sweet :)  But sorry dude, my heart already belongs to my one and only, faithful lover, Jesus Christ.

And just yesterday, I made an orangutan friend, and now this. I can't wait to see what strange phenomena will happen next.

My New Animal Friend

You know,

ever since I came to LA. I made a ton of beautiful friends. At first, I would think, "Oh, maybe it's too good to be true" or "Maybe they just want to be acquaintances" and all that. But in actuality, those people became my new friends and new additions to my character list that I've been secretly making inside my brain.

However, today, I made a special friend.

. Hahah. We never really formally introduced each other, but it was great having her company while I was drawing. She's an orangutan. I was cold-hearted and saw her as a mere monkey, but as soon as I looked into her eyes, it felt like I was staring at another person.

So what happened was when I was drawing and painting her for an hour or two, my watercolor palette must've caught her attention and made her want to see what I was up to. She plopped herself right in front of me and sat there for like 10 minutes. Eventually, she'd get bored and wander off, but whenever she came near my spot, she would watch me paint again. I mean the situation wasn't that big of a deal, but what made this experience so great was just watching her observe the way I moved my brush and catch her short glances at me. And within those short glances, it made me realize how pure this living creature was.

I just wish there was more to her life than just being stuck in a cage...

Anywho, Here are some sketches that I did today.
(The ones that were done digitally were done from memory)

Enjoy!

It's always a blessing to see God's creations.

A Hot Diggity Dog Halloween

Hey guys!

I hope y'all had a great week including a fun halloween.

I took my little cousins, Love and Luke, out for trick-or-treating and we had a blast. We got alot more candy than we expected, but unfortunately, they were restricted from eating them. hahaha. It's okay ,little ones, your dad is doing it for your own good. You'll thank him in the future.

As for costumes, I think they were the cutest out of all the trick or treaters that I've seen that night, and I'm not saying that because we're related, but come on. Who can beat a hot dog costume, honestly.
